V8 Engines / Re: 318 to 360
« on: August 19, 2019, 08:18:09 pm »
As I did, everything should be compatible to the new engine. The only thing I had a problem after all the hassle was the 360 is externally balanced engine as for the 318 is internally balanced meaning you would have to have your torque converter removed to weld on some weights to balance the engine or get a flex plate off a 360 engine or order new from an auto parts store. I get my parts from summit racing all online for the engine, transmission and diff parts.

If you look under the machine, there should be a hole where the drain might be. Normally it is toward the back of the machine unless the motor was changed and the drain moved to the back of the engine (toward the front of the machine) if that don't help then someone whose been there might tell you

Haywire keep us posted on the restoration. Pics and stories to go along with the restoration. Revive the activities on the website, it used to be a great forum but all seem to have died down after the site closed down. Everyone loves pics for more ideas of restoration.

One thing that is often overlooked is the timing of the distributor, when it is too advanced, you will find it lacks in throttle response and tend to overheat very often. Once timed right the throttle response will improve and you will notice the overheat would be somewhat solved. If you still overheat then it would be a cooling problem. Hope this helps you and others just for information.

General Discussion / Factory power steering
« on: April 23, 2019, 05:23:04 pm »
Hello all,

For those with factory power steering bombardiers, do you guys know the pressure setting is at for the cylinder up front? My 75 bomber had a different pump installed and seems to be too much pressure for the cylinder and want to lower the pressure of the pump to work properly

Body / Re: PLASTIC GAS TANKS
« on: March 24, 2019, 02:04:42 pm »
Nice looking tank, I think they make a big tank that goes inside the back of the bombardier as well. Steel tank 32 gallons I believe, I would like to see a plastic tank that can fit inside the back of a bombardier wide gauge. I think it would work great in the long distance rides plus it would free up a lot of the much needed space in the engine bay, just a thought of the day

Drivetrain / New rubber for tracks
« on: March 23, 2019, 03:04:55 pm »
Anyone know how much it costs for new rubber for bombardier tracks? After more than 40 years of use, tracks are finally giving in so I am searching for new rubber for my tracks. Heard of a guy that makes them out of conveyor belt seamless but trying to look for the person without any luck. Any leads of cost or anything for new rubber would help
