Trail Talk / Fuel comsumption

What kind of fuel milage should i expect on hard pack snow? I found this article that stated 'the vessel did 200 kilometers (about 125 US miles) for 150 - 200 litres of fuel (gasoline).'   That works out to 2.8 mpg to 3.5 mpg.  Seems kinda poor.

We received about 8" snow last Mon. so I went for my first  rip to calibrate my speedometer today.  Only about 3 miles or so.  It's gonna be fun this winter.  Engine runs good, power steering is awesome.   Going to stonewall, mb next Fri for sprockets and 6 tires.  Not to much left to do, but I want to get it done before my knee surgery at the end of Nov.

Transmissions / Kick down on auto transmission.
« on: October 28, 2010, 06:19:08 pm »
I purchased my bomber with 318 motor and auto transmission already been installed.  The installer removed the kickdown linkage from the carb to transmission and tied the kickdown lever on the transmission to not move so it consequently shifts at a higher rpm.  Is that desireable, or was it done just to ease in instalation?  I can purchase a cable to reconnect back up, or should I just leave it alone?

Lighting / Head light
« on: September 14, 2010, 06:28:24 pm »
I found these lights made by Grote that I purchased through NAPA.  100W halogen off road.  They are a bit bigger than the original lights, but they are a lot more shinier.  They  come with their own mount, or can be taken apart and fit onto the original mount.  When they are on, you can't look into them.  I get a little deal, but full list is about 39.00.  Part number is 64501-5

Has anyone ever seen like this?  Very close to the bombardier.

It looks like it's a wheel drive track system and not a sprocket.  Still kinda cool though.

I think you'll need a facebook account to view.  Some pictures and a couple of videos of a group in Quebec.

Body / Rub Rail/stiffener
« on: September 01, 2010, 06:19:44 pm »
What are some options for the rub rail on the body.  I'm not much of a wood worker, more like a wood butcher, but is there a profile that can be purchased that would work good for this purpose?
