V8 Engines / Mechanical or Electric Fuel Pump
« on: November 25, 2022, 09:19:38 am »
Hello All, I own a 1963 R 12 with a 313 V8.
When I did the 313 rebuild I installed an 12Volt electric fuel pump. I can not get them to last, I am replacing my second one with only about 4 hours on it.
Has anyone had experience with the electric modification. The reason I did this was that I heard that the mechanical system was prone to vapour locking.

General Discussion / Wheels for a R Model Ski
« on: October 21, 2022, 02:31:01 pm »
Hello All, I feel like I am reinventing the wheel but has anyone designed a removal wheel assy for the R model ski. I have been mucking around with a wheel from set from a snow blower and they are too light. The shafts bend and the wheel hubs break out of the hub. I am now looking at a axel/bearing hub 4 bolt from Princess and mount two 8" trailer tires and rims. Has anyone have  a better idea. Sure would like some help.

V8 Engines / Radiator Rebuild

Hello, Has anyone found a reasonable recorer of the Bombardier brass rads. I got a quote last spring here in Sault Ste Marie for $1400.  This is totally not reasonable. Amazon ca has an aluminum unit which is very close to a match available for less than $300
with free shipping if you are a Prime member.  Bob

Hello Followers, I have been doing a lot of research into the differential in my 63 R 12. JUst to inform you that it is a Dana/Spicer 44 as stamped in the casting web.
They were used in a lot of vehicles including Dodge Trucks and even farm combines. All makes including GM and Ford and was being used up until recently.

Thank you Ford F-150 for your reply. That explains it then. Only the right track when slipping is being is being driven but on good going the diff is providing equal traction.
Thanks again for the confirmation.  A very good tutorial on You Tube can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOgoejxzF8c

Thge other day The R/H track started to spin on ice when we were loading the machine onto our trailer. Today taking he machine off the trailer and putting it in the garage , it sounded like it was slipping again. R/H side, so I got out to check it. The R/H track had jumped off. The rubber drive sprocket turns all directions. It should be locked up?Correct?????? This is all new to me. I am wondering if I broke an axel??
Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Bob

Hello everyone, Time to Rock and Roll. I am sick of sittin and not doing anything. Lets talk BOMBARDIER!
I have a full rebuild going that has been in the works for 18 years. The steel work is at last done and I am about to get a lesson on body work!  A great friend  has offered to help me and a lot has happened in the past two years.
I am sure others have stories to tell
so lets wake up and start talking

Hello,
This is the two wheel slider system and I think it will work really well. I have seen a three wheel off -slider system also. Has any one heard any plus-minuses on either if the systems. I can't believe how hard it is to get information. You would think some one would jump at the opertunity to supply help!

Has anyone out there carried out this mod? A lot of machines in PQ have them installed.  Does some one sell these as a kit or supplies drawings. How does in work? Sure like to hear about them.  Bob

Thank you Frank for replying.
The OEM Doors are  not very strong and we had louvered doors fabricated out west. Price was very good and made of much heavier material.
I can fill you in on my supplier if you want and send a picture of his product and our one door that has been re skinned. Take care and Happy New Year to you!@
