Drivetrain / Bearings & Seals for B-12 wheels
« on: November 28, 2008, 08:29:37 pm »
Installing the new track belts on my 1951 narrow gauge and found some bad wheel bearings. Here are the part numbers. All #'s are SKF through NAPA
Seals #134865
Outer wheel Brgs- Cup BR09074   Cone BR09196
Inner wheel Brgs - Cup BR15250   Cone BR15112

BR15112 is not a common bearing these days so it might be prudent to stock up just in case..

Am having difficulty in finding a seal for the outer end of the drive axle just behind the sprocket hub. Can anyone help with a replacement # for this part?

General Discussion / Speedometer Accuracy
« on: January 20, 2007, 08:19:53 pm »
I was out cruising today and the speedometer read 40MPH at a nice cruise and I could top out at 50MPH.  It SEEMED like I may have been going 50MPH but I had no way of telling if I actually was.  Does one have to do an adjustment to the indicated reading or is the speedometer indicating the actual speed?  I don't see anything in my Operators Manual about this.

General Electrical / 6 volt to 12 volt?
« on: December 10, 2006, 02:44:28 pm »
I'm thinking of changing the 6 volt system in my 1951 B-12 to a 12 volt system in order to operate some good halogen headlights.. Anyone out there done the conversion?  I know the starter will work well on 12 volts and I will have to change bulbs. What about an ignition resistor?  Any help appreciated..  Thanks,
Clarence

Drivetrain / Track cross links
« on: November 06, 2006, 11:14:10 am »
I have about 100 links and reinforcement cleats on a couple of old tracks that were used on a swamp buggy that I bought years ago at an auction sale. Anyone need them? What is the going price?
Thanks, Clarence

Drivetrain / Track Life
« on: September 16, 2006, 10:25:17 am »
My 1951 B 12 has  original tracks that look to be in good shape and it was said to have been stored inside most of its life. My questions are what is the normal life expectancy of a set of tracks? Just over 9000 miles on the machine. What do I look for when checking them over? Are new tracks available? At what cost?  My computer would'nt download the Shavers catalogue.
Thanks, Clarence

General Discussion / Service Manuals
« on: July 31, 2006, 06:12:21 pm »
I am the proud owner of a 1951 Bombardier Model B-12CS that I recently purchased. It is a low mileage machine in excellent original condition.  My question is, were there service manuals for these machines and if so where could I get a copy?   I have the original "Maintenance Manual and Spare Parts Lists" book that I would be willing to copy in exchange. Also, is there any business out there that still supplies  parts?
Thanks. Clarence
