Wanted / Back tail lights
« on: January 23, 2008, 09:59:59 pm »
Does anyone have a pair of the red/chrome tails light assemby for the rear of the older bombadiers for sale? I have a 1953 machine, but I think the lights were prettty standard for many years. Any help or info. is appreciated. I always see the amber clearance lights for sale all over, but nothing in red.

Trail Talk / Re: Sunk bombardier rescue (lots of pics)

Not a pretty site, but certainly could have happened in a worse spot. Thank goodness for shallow water. Shallow water is the only thing that goes ok with poor ice. I've worked with many a man that has said he can read ice, but I think we all know that nature holds the final turn of the cards. My father winter freighted by both cat and bombardier on Lake Winnipeg, Winnipegosis and Cedar Lake in the 1950's and I have see many a photo of some pretty elaborate rescues from below the ice. This picture can remind us all to be extra careful and hopfully we will never have to send in any pictures like these, even  though they are nice to see. It can certainly put a damper on the trip. I don't like shoveling slush from around my machine, let alone bail any water out of it. One has to only imagine all the stories that these old bombers could tell of their experiences that they were involved with over the years with their various owners.
It's nice to see this revamped old timer being pulled out to live once again to do what it was meant to do.
Let's be careful and leave the water for our boats in the summer.
Happy trails.

General Discussion / Re: Owners Manuals-Parts Lists-Sales Brochures
« on: May 25, 2007, 10:38:18 am »
Greetings,
I have access to a couple of original maintenace manuals. Both are for Chrysler Industrial Engines, one copyrighted 1941 and the second one is from 1966. The 1941 manual/parts list covers the industrial 218, 236 and the 251 engines. The 1966 copy covers the industrial 170, 225, 251, 265, 313 and the 318. As each manuals are a few hundred pages long, to photo copy or scan them would be a great undertaking (the winters are long, but not that long). The parts list alone is 70 pages. However, if any one would like information or a few pages covering anything on these engines (engine, electrical, trans, clutch, part numbers, etc..) I could photo copy these no problem.
Its May 25th and it's snowing (maybe that's what got me thinking bombadiers today.)
