Here's just a few different diagrams showing some of the changes that they made to the steering, ski and rear suspension design.
Cranman, I can see what you meant then you were mentioining about the linkages. I see by the rear suspension picture: the metal links you said they tried instead of the chain linkage. Why did you say it gave problems? Was it freeing up or just not standing up to the rigorous movement of the suspension? Interesting thou. I supose they tried alot of different modification to their machines before they decided what worked best.
Hope it is clear enough for everyone. The suspension picture is the most faded in my book.

Yes, I enjoy the great history of these machines also. The one in the bottom picture sure allows easy access to the front suspension. It's like todays ski-doos', everything out in the open. The engineering has come in full circle. lol

Yes, I'm curious also. I never realized that they were available. When "the old trucker" mentioned that I had to go back to Houlios' old post and see what he was talking about. I had missed that.

After posting all these diagrams and information, I expect to see a complete "built from scratch" made in Newfoundland machine from the old trucker posted on this site within the next year. lol

Old trucker - I emailed you a copy of the pictures. I just scaned these out of an old manual that I found in my fathers old shop. These should be clear though. Anyone else having any problems viewing this post?

I believe that it could be a special order. Most bombardiers han one cargo door, and some had two. Also, you could specify as to which side you wanted it on.

Fresh off of the assembly line.

I see on one of the bombardier museum pages that this was called a "B1" and most went over to the UK.

Wooden Bombardiers / Re: Houlio's Pictures

gror - What does the $232.00 cover you for? The only licence paltes I have ever seen on any bombardiers here in Manitoba have been the government machines. I am curious as to what coverage you have for the $232.00. Does it cover say hitting a tree? going through the ice? Fire?
I believe that a basic plate here allows you to cross roads and highways and that's about it. On our regular snowmachines, the libility coverage is so high, everyone I know runs without it.
I think our regular drivers licence covers us a bit, but I may be wrong.
Averyman- What do we get for insurance in Manitoba?

old trucker - yes, thank you for the information. taillighting.com certainly has alot to offer. I think that if we can't find the lights in any of the three sites you mentiond, then we probaly don't really need them. lol

Paint / Re: painting the old girl

That's all that I did with my old 53' last winter. Just sanded it down, a little body filler on the bad spots and painted. I used tremclad "Old Caterpiller Yellow". If you do too good a job, you won't want to bounce off too many willows or trees. lol
