The problem with mine ended up being the carb. The fuel filter change and checking the fuel pump made no difference to the way mine run. A carb kit was $80.00  a hole new carb was 160.00.  Within 5 min of installing the new carb I had a perfect running engine!
The local auto parts store had no problem getting the carb.
If your fuel does not make a difference consider this as an option.
Let us know how you make out!!

Hey All,
Today I replaced points, condenser, rotor, cap, wires, plugs, fuel filter. I started the engine after each part replaced to be sure it would run , and I was not adding more problems to the rough running engine. There was  no improvement at all.....
The carb kit to redo the carb was about $80  , and a new refurbished one was $160. I ordered the new one. Ittook about 10 min to put on. I started the engine , warmed it up , ajusted the low speed jet ,and idle screw.Instant change and smooth as can be!!
We all got in and went for a test, perfect.
The 265 engine is a peppy engine and moves the machine along with ease. My son drove it around the loop and loved it. My daughter ,4yrs old sat on my knee and held the wheel and was laughing and squeeling in fun. We returned home well after dark looking forward th Tomorrow!!

OT,
Go to a local cabinetmaker and ask  about the ply. They will have a supplier for wholsale ply for what they do. I know here that my suppliers can get , and carry spiecies and quality that is not at the local lumber yard.  I do not buy sheets by the lift, only order what i need and is nerver a issue.

hey all,
What is takes place over the 2 days?  Is there information on the event?
Can you take a tour of the plant where they build the sleds?  The last time I was there the OFSC arranged this , and it was great time seeing how ski-doo's are made.

oldtrucker,
Are you thinking of going ?  Its in Valcourt?  Are you driving there?  Googe map shows a direct route for you , but it looks like you may need a boat  as there is some water between you and Valcourt if i have my directions right!!!  Approx 1400km distance. !!
Just kidding , it would be fun to meet other bombardier owners.

Hey all,
Does sound like fun. Its to far for me to hall the bomber ,as my truck is a dakota. I have moved it around here and know it would kill my truck!  I may be interested in driving there to see the rally. It has been 15 years from the last visit to the museum. Its about 5.5hour drive from here.

kpm,
thanks for the gap setting,  thats what i will go by.
Today I had a good look at the distributor , and compared to the copy manual for the smaller ID ingines. The one I have has no vacum to advance timing. I dont understand how the advance works. Mabie there is none?
I have ordered new parts , and a friend will help install, but I want to understand how it works.
I could not find much on the ID265 chrysler on the net. About the only thing was they were hard engines to find, and seem to be in some old army trucks.

Hey all,
My machine has a ID 265 chrysler engine ,and i want to replace the points , condenser, wires, plugs. The copys of the bomber manuals do not show this size of engine. Would the  .020 gap spec from the manuals of the smaller ID chrysler engines be the same.
The engine seems to be missing when needing power , above idel.(how to spell idel?...)  I thought I would start with this to see if it helps.
Any info on the 265 would be great.

Oldsledz,
Congratulations on completing your machine!  The pinstripe , hand done is perfect and shows the detail you have done on the whole project.  Enjoy your first ride!  I had mine out for a few rounds in the field today with my son and every kid in town!  What fun!
I spent 10 hours packing , and opening trails last night with the clubs LMC 1800 groomer . Difficult night as no water , swamps are frozen .  Did not get stuck with the LMC  as  it carries up better than the bombardier 110 groomer the club has.
     Merry Christmas to all!

Hey,
On the 6th picture down of the door on mine shows oak that is flat sliced , but a poor grade as the almost knot giving poor grain.  This will be gone next year !

Hey,
Ot is correct ,as most pics of the machines look like rotary cut. The grain is irregular pattern as the log is peeled as it turns , giving a repeating pattern but usually a uneven grain pattern. Flat sliced , repeats as well but is sliced off the side of the log ,then joined to match. This gives a board look without the uneven grain as with rotary. I want flat sawn if possible.
