V6 or Straight 6 Engines / Re: 300 carbed versus 300 injected Ford.

Injection system needs in the tank fuel pump and control board. Looking at the same thing. But I don't have the whole system to use just the motor. Carbs and parts are getting hard to find.

Only 1 bomber got stuck this year so far? Gotta be some more tales of misery out there this year. How about the slush on the lakes. Should have a trail condition site like hiways road report.

It's a steel rod that goes thru a pipe under the front floor boards to a set of forks on the starter at the back. That pipe under the floor boards probably needs heavy duty cleaning. You can also hook more springs to the linkage to pull it back. No starter solenoid to worry about this way is the biggest bonus.

General Discussion / Re: Speedometer Accuracy

You could really get into a brain twister here. Count the cleats you have on the track and the length of the track. Sprocket would move ? amount of cleats per minute. Then you could figure out how many times the track goes around per minute. With solid road you could come close.  Or get a gps.

Speedometer measures rpms of the sprocket not the track. Changed tire diameter on my little nissan truck one time and it messed up everything. Speedo in a bomber would only be close to accurate on a packed road and the one I did see working said you were going twice as fast as you actually were

If you mount it low enough to put wide tracks down between the pontoons, you would have a real paddlewheel queen. lol. Steering?? Well that may be a concern on a windy day.
Rudders instead of skis? Saw a car/boat setup on tv must of had a pto setup to turn props and used front tires to steer.

still in the drawing stages but it will be all new by next fall (wiring)
old wires got pretty hot when key was on found the short tho and everything worked after except it overcharged
seperate voltage regulator on the old girl so i'll just change it and go with existing alternator for now

Need to redo the wiring on my wide gauge. All original wire right now looks like. Just started drawing a picture with all items needing power and approx. location (front/back) to get an idea how many wires and what the load on them will be. Gonna go with 1 fused main power going to the front with a bar and seperate fuses for each item.
Fuel gauge still works,  1
ammeter                     2
ignition start solenoid   3
            run   coil etc.   4
temp gauge                5
oil pressure gauge       6
tail lights                    7
horn                          8
main power back>front 9

That is  what I came up with for # of wires needed in the main harness front>back then go from the main at the front to what ever is needed. I was thinking about a fuse block out of a truck all #s on it and items labeled on the cover. Just a thought right now.
If that makes any sense let me know. Every thing is in the planning stages for now anyway.

Had some town people helping with the fishing on the lake on a beautiful perfectly calm day. We all get out of the bomber and after a little while one asks the other.

"Do you hear that?"  Her partner answers "I don't hear anything."

"That's what I mean. I've never heard nothing before."

And I've never heard it put that way before.

Here's another one.
Jump out of the bomber in the middle of the lake and the first question is "Is it safe to walk here?"

Kind of a trade off. 356 = lower rpm but u might find less time in high gear.
