I found this on ebay it says it is for 1960's chrysler industrial H-170 motor. What that means I'm not sure. The item number is 260021239030.I don't know how to post the page.Just thought someone might want this.I dont think it will work for our motor being it's from the 50's.

Anyone live near this machine and could check it out so we would know what kind of shape it's in?

Keep the pictures coming it's nice to see from start to finish. I like the removable belly pan idea. So how fast do you think you'll get with the motor being rebuilt?

V6 or Straight 6 Engines / Re: Engine part No's for 251 cu in Chrysler

Thanks Clarence! So I guess I need to search industrial motors to try and find a manual. I just figured they were the same as the automotive engines from the 40's&50's they look the same.I think if you were to switch the distibuter to vacum advance you will need a carb that has this hook up.I wonder if it would work?Maybe someone else has input.

I have looked at some old chilton manuals and they show a vacum advance on the distibuter (flathead 6 cyl) and there isn't one on this motor I was wondering if anyone else has vacum advance on thier motor and if so why would they have removed this ???Don't you need the advance to give the motor more power when it's under load?I'm grateful for all the help! I figure the only stupid question is one that's not asked.

Is there a automatic tranny that will bolt up to the 251? Also where might I find the serial numbers on the motor? We are still trying to figure what year it is.We are thinking it is the longblock 6cylinder.

Ok guys i need your help. The motor has no power in 3rd gear.Runs great in 1st and 2nd.I was wondering if anyone had a manual for the 251?I was told maybe points or the distributer(something to do with the wieghts not working properly)As you can tell I am not a motor guy .I would prefer to try and fix this motor than replace it.

V8 Engines / Re: What size v-8 to install?
« on: March 11, 2007, 06:33:35 pm »
I was just wondering what would cause the motor when shifting from 2 to 3 to lose power(on the 251 6 cyl) and what kind of tranny (auto) will bolt up to it?

We want to put a v-8 motor in the narrow machine with a auto tranny. Alot of the bombadiers around here run 350 chevys. There is just not enough power to pull fish houses threw the deep snow with the 6cylinder(maybe old and tired)Any help or information would be great maybe someone has done this before.I am interested  in any suggestions!
