One thing I've been thinking about for a long time is running engine coolant thru the back bumper somehow to keep the ice & snow from building up back there. Haven't got too serious about it yet but bombers can use all the cooling they can get most of the time. Maybe some heat exchangers off a baby snow machine?

The old man originally switched to a 302 and had same problems. Changed up to a 351 windsor 2 barrel carb. Plenty of power and it's the same block. Just make sure the rad is as big as possible and nice and clean. Works real good with a c-4 tranny too.

Wooden Bombardiers / hydraulic drum breaks on each sprocket
« on: August 18, 2010, 11:00:57 pm »
Saw a old bomber with break hubs and breaks on each side. Sprockets bolt on same as rear wheels on my truck. Two hand levers one on each side of the drivers seat in an old wide woodie that needs alot of wood & mechanical. Was a post office delivery once upon a time. Could I get any more info? Heard there was only 6 of them made like that. Know for sure it's the only wide gage I've seen with the front breaks. Still has the original breaks on the tranny. Flat head 6 with standard.

V6 or Straight 6 Engines / Re: engine temp

yep I've seen them. It would be nice to get rid of the ice build up too. Still in the planning stages anyhow.

V6 or Straight 6 Engines / Re: engine temp

had to break a road across the lake last winter in the deep snow when it was fairly warm out. Powdery snow filled the engine compartment when I tied the side doors open all the excess water shorted the electronic ignition. My fan pulls thru the rad and blows out the sides and under the floor depending on where u want the heat. If u reverse the airflow won't the flying snow problem be worse. I would like to figure out a cooling system like they have on liquid cooled snowmobiles to use in addition to the radiator system. Possibly run coolant thru the back pipe of the frame to melt ice build up, pipe it like another heater with an ajustable regulating valve of some kind. Still in the planning stages. Maybe use heat exchangers like snowmobiles?

Are they new heavy cleats?
There is more than one thickness of cleat and if they get wore flat atall they weaken fast.

automatics give u a chance when u hit slush on a lake. Just keep easing off the gas and u can stay on top and moving quite a while. A standard won't let u ease off on the throttle enuf without stalling or spinning the tracks when u downshift. Driver with the magic touch can save a lot of jacking, shoveling, swearing etc. Might get the magic touch one of these years.

How much weight differance is there between foamed tires and tube tires?
Any tricks that should be known beforehand would be appreciated.
eg.  how much to use?
      what kind?
