It looks like he has 6 "Dummy Spares" & the heavy J5 hubs on the rear. Cranman did Bombardier ever change the wheels on these newer models ???

This one that F-150 posted is owned by the same fellow. I called him today to ask about the rims he used on the 1976. He said they are off a crown Victoria. Can't be many rims left in Ontario. I have a stash of about 12 & working on getting a few more if the price is right.

He said he has a 1972...I think for sale also for $32,000.

Yes some guys around here changed to the dummy spares with the Bombardier tires on the rims. The rims are getting harder to find here in Ontario and pricey. There is a guy in Toronto area making new rims though $$$$. The 5 bolt dummies are easier and quicker to change when you are running them for Ice fishing customers " cannot afford much down time ".

Sandybay how are the dummy tires holding up over time. Can you get a season outta them ??? How's the with & height of the tire compared to the proper tire ?
Lastly, how much do it cost to make a new axle for this style rim ?

hmm,,,if running bombardier tires(new),you should not have to be changing tires, not saying you cannot get a flat, just that it's rare,I've owned many bombardiers, and never encountered problems with new tires..

They are using 4.50/16 Bombardier tires on the crown vic rims. I have been trying to send a pic of the hubs that they had made to fit on the existing axle with the same original bearings. The rear tires on the 1976 are the split rims with solid rubber tire.

solids are great, though you have to change up to the larger axle and bearings for the rear tires on the older models... to eliminate this alot of owners have gone to foam filled rear tires ,letting you use the original rim and bearings ect.
