Head light
« on: September 14, 2010, 06:28:24 pm »
I found these lights made by Grote that I purchased through NAPA.  100W halogen off road.  They are a bit bigger than the original lights, but they are a lot more shinier.  They  come with their own mount, or can be taken apart and fit onto the original mount.  When they are on, you can't look into them.  I get a little deal, but full list is about 39.00.  Part number is 64501-5

I think you'll find that those bulbs in there may not last long. I've had them in my trucks over the years. You can buy the clear sealed beam light that fits into that pot. They were available at truck parts shops in 50's, 75's, 100's & 150 watts. The trouble we had was you could only run the big wattage lights @ highway speeds, the wind helped keep them cool. They also have the floodlight bulb.  The regular round 4 lamp light system that were on the older cars are the same.
I have a set of Perlux stainless steel lights I bought 15 years ago. They look similar to yours. Still look same as new.

You're probably right OT.  I don't have near the experience as you have with lights and driving.  If it is a heat issue, they may be alright for winter use.

Just a bit of info for the members. I was @ the truck parts store yesterday looking @ the Perlux driving lights like I have shown in a previous post. I found out that they are only $125.00 a set. Stainless steel with 150 watt sealed beam. I thought that it was a deal, considering they will last you a lifetime.
